    Project Summary

    Position: Tenant Engagement Promotor de Salud/Community Worker

    Reports To: Director of Asset Management

    Service Area: Los Angeles

    Scope of Work

    The Tenant Engagement Promotor de Salud will engage community members residing at Esperanza’s affordable housing projects in a culturally competent manner to build a strong relationship between Esperanza housing dept, the property management team and tenants. The Tenant Engagement Promotor de Salud will ensure tenants feel heard, involved, and empowered in shaping their living environments.

    Essential Duties

    Tenant Engagement Promotor de Salud will:

    Visit households at Esperanza’s affordable housing projects

    Conduct follow-up home visits as needed and/or as required by the program/project

    Facilitate Communication: Act as a bridge between tenants and housing staff, sharing updates, gathering feedback, and resolving concerns

    Organize/Collaborate with the AM/PM teams events & activities: Host workshops, meetings, and community-building events to foster tenant participation.

    Participate in community outreach activities including canvassing and attending resource fairs and other community events to obtain information that may benefit Esperanza residents/housing projects.

    Ensure residents are connected to services, resources that benefit low-income families (ex. Utility services for low-income families, food banks, first time homebuyers’ resources/information etc.)

    Provide advocacy and education related to decarbonization

    Monitor satisfaction: Conduct surveys, analyze feedback, and report on tenant satisfaction to improve services

    Prepare outreach materials, commitment addendums or other required materials/documents related to decarbonization

    Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of client services, activities & outreach conducted

    Maintain constant and consistent communication with the Asset Management team

    Submit required quantitative and qualitative data in a timely manner

    Attend organizational, project related, and supervision meetings

    Collaborate Across Teams: Work with property managers, social workers, and external partners to deliver holistic support

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Previous experience working with the target population or in a community outreach setting preferred

    Completion of Promotores de Salud Training highly desirable

    Fluent in speaking/writing- English/Spanish

    Working knowledge of relevant social service programs and community resources

    Cultural sensitivity and a passion for equity

    Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, detail-oriented, follow-through and verbal and written communication skills

    Intermediate to Proficient experience with computers, Email, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)

    Ability to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily

    Event planning and project coordination

    Data collection and reporting

    Must have reliable transportation, a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance

    Some weekends and evenings are required to work

    Physical demands:

    Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds, for example files and promotional materials.

    Ability to participate in community health canvassing in the field, which involves accessing different work locations and travel throughout the assigned area and carrying program materials.

    Ability to travel for in-person meetings and events in South Los Angeles.

    Compensation: Tenant Engagement Promotor de Salud is a part-time temp position, non-exempt position with an hourly range of:$25 - $30 and hour.

    This is a temporary position expected to last 6 months.
