    Overview:

    The enterprise architect (EA) plays an integral role in building a holistic view and roadmap of the company’s technology strategy, processes, and information technology roadmap. The architect partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions not only align with the company’s overall objectives, but also ensures that both groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the company’s mission and vision.

    This position performs the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks related to the development of an enterprise technical architecture (ETA). Develops and implements an ETA with a focus on risk avoidance, operational efficiency, and supportability. This position also works to drive business value through IT innovation.

    This position will work closely with Business Relationship Managers, Enterprise Architects, and individuals in project delivery groups to ensure an effective ETA is integrated into all new solutions.

     

    Essential Responsibilities:

     

    • Responsible for developing and driving the infrastructure roadmap for enterprise architectural strategies including standardization and modernization of legacy environments.
    • Analyze the risks, benefits and opportunities associated with architectural strategies, and champion a balanced approach with a focus on operation functionality.
    • Lead, and build consensus among infrastructure teams, in the design and development of infrastructure building blocks for simplicity, availability, performance, integrity, stability and scalability of global enterprise systems.
    • Lead, guide, coach and mentor peers on design standards, implementation strategies and best practices.
    • Engage with management, infrastructure peers and business teams to understand business and system requirements and advise on options, risks, business impacts and cost-benefits.
    • Communicate with stakeholders at all levels to inform them of architecture strategies and roadmaps.
    • Participate in the governance of projects or initiatives to close the gaps between current and future-state architectures.
    • Work with the infrastructure engineering teams to evolve and mature corporate/enterprise IT infrastructure.
    • Understand, advocate and augment the principles of business and IT – and more specifically enterprise architecture (EA) – strategies.
    • Analyze enterprise business context (trends and business strategy) to derive technical architecture.
    • Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
    • Analyze technology industry and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
    • "Sell" the enterprise architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results.
    • Define the principles that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
    • Oversee and facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
    • Consult on application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate project needs.
    • Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of the ETA.
    • Document necessary technical architecture design and analysis work, possibly including project postmortem documentation and metric collection.
    • Participate in the definition of technical standards and guidelines that drive the future state of the ETA.
    • Support Solution Architecture Reviews and develop High Level Solution Designs around the ETA.
    • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and self-guided work.
    • Demonstrate strong desire to develop new technical knowledge and professional skills on a continual basis.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments.
    • In-depth technical knowledge of at least two of the following areas and awareness of others:
      • Network Architectures and technologies
      • Server hardware and virtualization technologies
      • Cloud technologies
      • Database server infrastructure technologies
      • Disaster Recovery
      • High availability infrastructure designs and methodologies
      • Systems monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.

    • Ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives.
    • Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.
    • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
    • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
    • Comfortable with ambiguity.
    • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks (such as TOGAF, Zachman).

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Language:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to communicate in other languages relevant for the region is a plus.
