  • Responsibilities

    Provide support for Tenneco employee and labor relations activities in North America, including legal compliance, consistent administration of HR policies and practices, labor contract negotiations, grievance and arbitration administration and training of internal customers.  Responsible for developing and directing the implementation of Tenneco’s labor relations strategies and programs for North America locations.  Provide strategic guidance and input to the coordination and preparation of the represented employees across business units.

    Job Responsibilities 

    • Assist with research, design and implementation of HR policies and practices that support positive employee relations and HR functional excellence across the enterprise.
    • Partner with cross functional teams to participate in and deliver training in various disciplines of HR to HR professionals across the enterprise (compliance, OFCCP, federal and state legislation)
    • Provide counsel to HR professionals in the interpretation and implementation of Tenneco guidelines and practices.
    • Provide expertise in the investigation and resolution for legal inquires such as EEOC claims, OFCCP Desk Audits, FLSA Audits, NLRB Unfair Labor Practice Charges, WARN, etc.
    • Coordinate the annual AAP process, review results and provide assistance to field locations to resolve potential issues.
    • Lead labor contract negotiations and preparation.
    • Build an effective labor relations process to standardize our approach for contract negotiations and contract negotiations preparation.
    • Create position statements in response to EEOC claims for all locations.


    Required Skills


    Required Experience

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or comparable education in labor relations, or related field
    • Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience, preferably in manufacturing or similar industry
    • Minimum 1-3 years of contract negotiation experience
    • Experience working in the labor relations field


    Preferred Qualifications:   

    • Lead, motivate and drive a cross-functional teams
    • Independent: able to work with autonomy with other functions and as part of a cross functional leadership team
    • Problem solving and decision making skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to travel; sensitive to cultural diversity
