    TENNECO POWERTRAIN, in partnership with major vehicle manufacturing groups are developing key elements of hybrid power systems for the next generation of advanced, fuel efficient vehicles. 

    For our location in LAINDON (BASILDON), ESSEX we are looking for a LOGISTICS & SAFETY LEAD.

    The Logistics & Safety Lead has two primary responsibilities. The first being to ensure accurate, timely movement and distribution of materials to both our internal & external customers. This will be a hands-on role with both planning and transactional day-to-day responsibilities. The second part of the role will be to be the site lead for Health & Safety & ensuring a safe workplace without risk to health.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    LOGISTICS

    • Manage the receipt and dispatch of goods for the UK Business including ensuring
    • compliance with all procedures and completion of documentation. This includes responsibility for both our Essex and Coventry facilities.
    • Responsible for on-time delivery of goods and/or services to both our internal & external customers
    • Ensuring UK import and exports are compliant with customs requirements. Working with our German facility & supply chain teams to ensure a consistent controlled approach
    • For imports and exports ensuring paperwork prepared carefully to ensure minimal disruption or delays and avoiding unnecessary cost
    • Ensuring goods despatched are packaged accordingly to avoid damage.
    • Own, maintain and improve the Goods in and Goods out procedures
    • Manage expenditure associated with Logistics, reviewing and identifying better
    • value solutions where appropriate.
    • Ensures day-to-day accuracy of stock movements in and out of UK cage/stock locations
    • Maintaining accurate stock records for the UK sites.
    • Transacting accurately goods receipts onto our SAGE ERP system until fully transferred to SAP
    • Support the business in developing our main ERP system (SAP) for goods movements and transactions including receiving, stock movements & despatch. Accountability for ensuring these disciplines are maintained & followed once established.
    • Maintain good housekeeping and storage of goods & equipment

    HEALTH & SAFETY

    • Provide clear advice to management on any issue relating to health and safety. Working with management to ensure clear communication on any health and safety matters to all employees.
    • Liaising with group Health & Safety teams and ensuring our company is up to date with group policies, legislation and legal requirements
    • Conduct risk assessments e.g. machinery, workplace/environmental, manual
    • handling, COSHH, etc.
    • To provide management with support with their investigation of accidents,
    • incidents and work-related ill health, seeking to identify underlying causes and
    • possible courses of corrective action.
    • Ensure all contractors & visitors follow and comply with the Company’s Health and Safety policy
    • Health and safety induction of permanent / temporary employees

    Required Skills Required Experience

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

    • Being a diverse role, the ideal candidate will have excellent experience in both those areas or be very experienced in one element of this role with a good working knowledge of the other and be prepared to develop skills in the area missing
    • Min. 5 years experience in a previous similar area
    • Previous experience in the automotive / manufacturing industry is essential
    • Previous experience in managing international logistics including Import/Export and customs procedures
    • Experienced in Health & Safety processes and procedures
    • Awareness about manufacturing and/or ISO quality systems
    • Good organizational & task management skills
    • Commercial awareness
    • Attention to detail
    • Work on own initiative
    • Accountability for processes & procedures
