    This Co-Op role will be in our former Federal-Mogul manufacturing facility located in SMITHVILLE, TN.

     

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    The Product Development Co-Op position is designed to support key engineering projects for the braking product development team.  The position works directly with the product development team and interfaces with AME and production.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Raw material characterization and research using analytical lab equipment
    • Friction mix characterization
    • Conduct pressing trials to optimize manufacturing conditions
      • Collect chemical and physicals properties on finished products
      • Inspect products for defects
      • Data collection and analysis of raw materials, mix, and products
      • Presentation preparation for engineering and leadership review
      • Dedicated special research projects

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    Working Conditions:

    No allergy to nuts.  Must be able to work in a hot environment. Steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection and ear protection required in designated areas.

    Physical Requirements:

    Light lifting, standing on production floor.  Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

    Required Skills

    Qualifications include:

    • Currently enrolled and pursing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Materials Science will also be considered
    • Sophomore status or higher
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Clear communication
    • Self motivated

    Qualifications include:

    • Currently enrolled and pursing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Materials Science will also be considered

    • Self motivated
