- set up and define in close cooperation with System engineering, a clear statement of requirements (SOR) for the new valve technology.
- lead (and when required set up) a technical multifunctional team.
- takes ownership of the project(s), coordinates all development activities, organizes the work to meet the defined project milestones.
- reports out the project status to supervisor and senior management.
- present valve technologies in his responsibity field to OE customers, supported and in alignment with the OE sales organization.
- hold all detailed project information and documents as required.
- act as a technical reference or internal consultant for all projects within his scope of responsibility and support external/internal customers (e.g. OE program responsible, TPL, GSCM, Manufacturing…). He ensures alignment with the technical company strategy.
- In his projects he will:
- Define the design of new products with the support of CAD designers. Know, develop and apply internal technical standards, procedures and specifications. Use appropriate engineering tools and techniques (FEA, FMEA…) as required.
- Ensure compliance with program management requirements, quality requirements and all applicable EHS standards/regulations.
- Identify potential product liability issues and take appropriate action.
- Recognize patent ability of concepts/designs and potential infringement of new product designs to existing patents (e.g. intellectual property issues)
- Define and coordinate performance and validation tests, with support of testing dpt.
- Analyses results, takes conclusions and drives design improvements together with the development teams.
- Use statistical analyses tools and DOE (Design of Experiment) techniques, like 6sigma, whenever required. Issue and monitor development reports.
- Analyse/evaluate conformance to standards of product/process/ system designs and make recommendations for corrective actions. Identify opportunities for product and process improvements, standardization efforts or cost reduction.
