We are looking for a Purchasing Manager for NVH Performance Materials. This position will manage the commodity & application buyers for the NVH purchasing team and will have high visibility as it is leading the purchasing activity for the NVH Performance Materials for Tenneco. This Purchasing Manager will be a valued member of the Purchasing department where we strive to promote from within wherever possible; therefore, opportunities for advancement are strong.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports buyers in terms of practical guidance and support on day to day issues as they arise.
• Ability to fully perform, demonstrate and evaluate the role of Commodity & Application Buyer.
• Responsible to ensure that buyers achieve annual cost savings requirements
• Critique and define need for action and drive accountability within the purchasing group & external teams
• Attend program and management review meetings; represent purchasing at monthly management meetings
• Responsible to drive flawless launch strategy requirements for the supply base
• Explore opportunities within the supply base to support Tenneco business objectives.
• Ability to assess issues and develop action plans to bring quick and effective resolution.
• Experience with Long Term Agreements and/or contracts.
• Leads by example in terms of focus on detail, execution of tasks and professional interaction with both internal and external contacts.
• Special projects as assigned by leadership

Required Skills Required Experience

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree; MBA desirable

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5+ years purchasing experience
• Must have supervisory/management experience
• Self-directed with the ability to work with all levels of the organization within multiple cross functional areas.
• Excellent analytical ability
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or TS16949 regulations
• Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills
• Solid computer, communication and organizational skills
• Experience in stamping, plastic, rubber is a plus
• Overseas supplier management or purchasing experience is a plus
