    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The EHS Engineer position supports the environmental, health and safety programs. Serves as a resource to Company in the areas of EHS compliance, engineering, hazard communication, industrial hygiene and/or industrial safety. This position consists of 40% environmental and 60% health and safety management.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop, implement and maintains programs related to company policies while adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
    • Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental permits, licenses and registrations.
    • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and/or safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization
    • Serves as contact with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
    • Assist with programs to improve environmental, health and/or safety performance by identifying opportunities to improve injury prevention and environmental stewardship.
    • Assist with intra-company environmental, health and/or safety auditing program.
    • Performs structured assignments that require interpretation of data and regulations, identification of problem sources and possible remedial actions.
    • Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental, health and/or safety policy and procedure manuals.
    • Investigates causes of industrial accidents and/or injuries to develop solutions to minimize or prevent recurrence. Document investigation finds and participate in disciplinary process related to safety.
    • Participate in and lead the emergency response/ first responder team.
    • Prepares reports of findings and recommends corrective action from investigation of accidents, inspection of facilities, or testing of environment.
    • Coordinate, develop, and conduct training of all site employees in all OSH areas as dictated by company, local, state, and federal regulations/ policies
    • Ensure company’s EHS policies are properly maintained based on ISO 14001 Standard Maintains regular contact with personnel throughout all levels and in all areas of the organization and facility.
    • Perform monthly SWPP inspection and reporting
    • Perform annual SWPP, air permit, SARA title III Form R, and tier II reporting
    • Conduct annual internal EH&S audit as well as appropriate ISO 14001 audits for the plant.
    • Raise safety awareness by developing new and maintain safety awareness programs ( fall protection, confined spaced, ladder safety )
    • Coordinate company fire extinguisher program.
    • Maintain company emergency action plan and coordination
    • Arrange and conduct PPE assessment, confined space assessment, noise survey, and industrial hygiene survey.
    • Maintains SDS books and keep them up to date along with reviewing SDS sheets of proposed materials.
    • Review new equipment installation to address EH&S concerns
    • Participate in most EH&S related 8d review teams.
    • Performs other duties as required.
     
    

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in safety or related fields, but will consider candidates with other appropriate training and experience.
    • 5-7 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing industry (Automotive is preferred)
    • Through Knowledge of EHS laws and government regulations
    • Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, regulators and/or public groups --written and oral.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
    • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Team player, self-managed and lead by example.
    • Computer literacy - knowledgeable/competent in MS applications (Word, Access, Excel).
    • Leadership skills, including a demonstrated aptitude to work in teams and motivate others.
    • Able to use protective equipment, including safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, respiratory protection, hearing protection.
    • Physical requirements include: ability to lift 50 lb., climb stairs, stand for long periods of time, walk minor distances as required between plants
