Job Description:
This position will be a key contributor to Tenneco North American Ride Performance OE & After Market facilities for automated and manual high speed assembly technologies. This position will primarily be project oriented with focus on process improvement, global standardization & champion core competency teams (CCT) for high speed manufacturing technologies designed to improve process efficiency, quality and reduce cost while globally aligning with customer initiatives.
- Manage new process development projects and coordinate activities with Product Design/Development/Applications Engineering teams & Plant Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Develop machine “Statement of Requirement” (SOR) for new and advanced manufacturing process technologies to be delivered into our NA Manufacturing locations
- Develop validation plans for new and existing manufacturing processes supporting specifications, prints & quality requirements.
- Represent North America on a global functional core competency team.
- Drive standardization throughout Tenneco North America by use of core competency team global involvement, equipment standardization & development of standard machine components.
- Knowledge of GD&T to review assembly, component designs and details to verify manufacturing feasibility
- Lead in strategy to develop, monitor & maintain assembly capacity planning for each North American facility.
- Involvement in development of DFMEA’s.
- Develop PFMEA’s for new and advanced technologies implemented throughout the North American facilities.
- Continual improvement to machine building standards to include mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and controls as they relate to assembly machine construction.
- Standardization of gage design in support of new and advanced technologies to include GR&R capabilities.
- Interface with suppliers, research development centers in effort to develop new and more cost effective advanced technologies.
- Anticipate and analyze customer needs for new technologies and formulate a design & development recommendation
- Support manufacturing with launch and continuous improvement activities.
- Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire
- Support and adhere to Tenneco EH&S policies and procedures
- Support TS16949, NPIS, APQP and other applicable procedures and policies
Required Skills
Required Skills:
- Experience in high speed/high volume automated assembly manufacturing process, robotic technology, value stream mapping and lean manufacturing skills are a must.
- Working knowledge of processes additionally utilized in the North American facilities (painting, resistance & mig welding, tube forming, stamping & machining) is a plus.
- Excellent problem solving skills. Green or black belt a plus.
- Mistake proof (Poka Yoke) skill set required.
- Knowledge of state & federal regulated safety standards (OSHA).
- Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
- Working knowledge of Value Engineering for project payback analysis and financial justification.
- Proficiency with PC applications including spreadsheets, word processors, database, timing charts, presentation, flow charting & statistical analysis software.
- Knowledge of CAD and computer based engineering tools.
- Working knowledge and application of Tenneco tools (BOS, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, EVA, TVM)
- Ability to function & lead in a team environment & effectively communicate across various levels of the organization are a must.
- Ability to travel in support of job function (plants, customers, suppliers etc.) Some overseas travel may be required.
Required Experience
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of five years manufacturing engineering work experience with majority of time spent in high speed/high volume automated and/or manual assembly environment.
- PLC Programming-Allen Bradley (required) / Siemens (a plus)
- Application of Robotics & Robotic programming
- Controls hardware design & vision systems
- Program/project management experience required; leadership role preferred.
- Extensive experience in tool and manufacturing process development with knowledge of CAD, Minitab and functional expertise in application of GD&T
