    We are looking for a Total Rewards Specialist, Retirement who will be responsible for retirement plan administration including defined benefit, defined contribution, and supplemental retirement plans. Accountable for plan administration, reporting, communications, plan compliance and procedure documents.  Partners with the benefit vendors, actuarial consultants, outside counsel, and HR to resolve benefit plan requests and participant issues.  This role reports to the Executive Director, Global Benefits in the HR Total Rewards group.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the retirement plan administration for the company’s U.S. defined benefit, defined contribution, and supplemental retirement plans; working knowledge of Canadian retirement plans is a plus.
    • Manage retirement plan vendors to ensure plans meet administrative guidelines and are following state and federal law.
    • Lead ongoing administration calls with vendors. 
    • Responsible for troubleshooting complex benefit plan matters and collaborating with Benefit team members and other stakeholders to reach resolution.
    • Analyze and prepare funding for defined contribution plan each pay period and provide funding for the defined benefit plan and monthly annuity payments.
    • Audit retirement plan eligibility and participant data such as employee and employer 401(k) contributions; resolve discrepancies within payroll and recordkeeper.
    • Manage weekly and monthly invoice processing for all benefit plans, including retirement and health and welfare plans.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders such as the HR team, auditors, finance, accounting, payroll, legal, and senior management on various retirement initiatives, such as audits, filings, plan valuations etc.
    • Prepare and submit IRS 5500s and other required plan filings.
    • Execute annual compliance notices, e.g., Annual Funding Notice, Summary Annual Report, etc.
    • Partnering with other Benefit team members, manage implementation of process improvements as related to retirement plan administration.
    • Collaborate on retirement plan communications to plan participants.
    • Support union and labor negotiation process to ensure retirement benefit changes are implemented.
    • Support day-to-day operational issues, field employee benefits questions from HR through benefits department mailbox, and assist with appeals.
    • Support HR Total Rewards special projects as needed.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree is required.

     

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years progressive benefits experience.
    • 3+ years of experience using various HRIS. SAP is a plus.
    • Expert knowledge of retirement plan design, administration and compliance requirements.
    • Strong project management and organization skills
    • Ability to understand provisions of applicable laws, ordinances, policies, rules, regulations, and memoranda of understanding.
    • Well versed in pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements (i.e., ERISA, IRS, 5500,409A, Social Security, DOL).
    • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
