    We are looking for a Plant Controller. The Plant Controller is in charge of all accounting functions at plant level.  List of functions would include financial reporting, forecasts, budgets, variance analysis, capital reports, expense controls, payroll, accounts receivables / payables, inventory costing, audit of physical inventory, internal control documentation, and compliance to Tenneco accounting policies and procedures.  Responsible for the entire Accounting / Finance staff.  Responsible for administration of plant budget, approval of invoices and analyzation of operating budget for the facility.  Controller oversees the accounting and system staff to ensure financial accuracy and control of company’s assets. Controller is responsible for analyzing and making recommendations regarding profitability of the business, while interfacing with business unit management and corporate accounting. Acts as a financial advisor to plant management team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Financial reporting will include supervising and administering weekly flash process, monthly accounting statements, approving journal vouchers, reconciliations, cost analysis, scrap reporting and variance analysis.
    • Budgets will encompass monthly operating forecasts and yearly budget cycle for the plant submitted to division headquarters.
    • Capital reporting would include preparing Capital Status Report, Capital Investment Progress Report / Tracker and Capital Budget Reports.  Capital additions, retirements and transfers are administered through the accounting office.
    • The Controller is responsible for the plant payroll and accounts receivables / payables functions however, shared services handles the processing of the functions.
    • Inventory costing area responsibilities include system flow of quantities and costs moving from raw materials to work in process to finished good insulators.  Accounting area reviews bills of materials, routes and coordinates standard costing by part number.  Controller supervises the standard costing of material, labor and overhead standards along with cycle count adjustments to inventory levels.
    • Audit of physical inventory dealing with raw materials and work in process and finished goods are the responsibility of the controller.  This audit includes quantifying any adjustments to the ledger.
    • Controller documents compliance to company accounting policies and procedures through quarterly internal control certifications and SOX self-testing toward company standards.
    • Perform other related duties of a similar nature and scope as assigned by Supervisor.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar. Master’s degree preferred.

     

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

    • 3 years of experience in accounting and / or cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in a supervisory role preferred
    • Experience within a union environment preferred
    • Strong written, verbal, analytical, problem solving, organization, time management, teamwork skills and leadership capability required
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel required
    • Technical Experience with PLEX, SAGE and corporate financial systems (i.e Hyperion, OneStream) preferred
