The Ride Performance Materials Engineering Co-Op opportunity is located at our Engineering Center in Monroe, Michigan. 

The primary focus of the Ride Performance Materials Engineering Co-Op is to provide hands-on learning and real world experience to students enrolled in a cooperative education program at an accredited college or university.  By developing capability in materials testing, lab equipment maintenance, analyzing and compiling data, and writing test reports, students participating in Tenneco’s Ride Performance Materials Engineering Co-Op role provide invaluable assistance to Tenneco’s engineers, metallurgists and chemists in the development and testing of materials for automotive damper systems.

• Must be able to work in a Team based environment.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Effective time management skills.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Student currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, metallurgy or metallurgical engineering.
• Student currently enrolled in and in good standing with an accredited cooperative education engineering program.
• Ability to participate in a co-op work term (minimum of 10 weeks) during the Fall co-op period (September - December)
• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Ability to provide own transportation to/from the job site.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Student who is an active member in a materials related professional society (ACS, AIChE, ASM, AIME, SPE)
