    The Practice Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the clinics. Establishes and administers outpatient policies and procedures in cooperation with other department heads and administrative personnel.

     

    The Practice Manager will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

     

    The Practice Manager will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.

     

    Principal Responsibilities

     

    The Practice Manager:

     

    1. Manages the daily operations of the clinic. Compiles analyses and reports on operations and functions as appropriate.
    2. Establishes and administers practice policies and procedures in cooperation with other department heads and administrative personnel.
    3. Develops and recommends objectives aligned with the annual strategic plan and implements action plans to achieve the service objectives.
    4. Recruits, develops, and evaluates clinic staff.
    5. Provides leadership to a multi-disciplinary treatment team, including medical students, residents and rehabilitation interns working in the facility.
    6. Collaborates in concert with the Director, with medical director and attending physicians on plans and goals ensuring that services meet organizational expectations.
    7. Develops annual budget and operates according to the appropriate targets.
    8. Monitors quality of patient care and rehabilitation services delivered to patients in area(s) of responsibility. Oversees the analysis, review and action planning resulting from outcomes and satisfaction reports for outpatient services. Oversees the quality improvement process for services.
    9. Partners with Marketing representatives to develop an annual marketing plan.
    10. Assures compliances with regulatory, reimbursement and accreditation requirements as well as the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab policies and procedures.
    11. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

     

    1. An undergraduate degree with concentration in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, or accounting. MBA or MHA a plus.
    2. Minimum 7 years of related clinical experience in an appropriate specialty area with demonstrated ability to organize, develop and effectively manage a clinical business unit.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge of third-party and health insurance company operating procedures, regulations and billing requirements and government reimbursement programs.
    4. At least 3 years of experience managing clinical operations a large specialty setting.
    5. Working knowledge of medical information systems for billing and accounts receivable, spreadsheets, reporting applications, medical terminology, coding and office procedures.
    6. Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively discuss financial problems and arrangements with various institutes and outside agency personnel.
    7. Strong customer service skills necessary to effectively discuss and/or communicate financial problems and determinations with patients and family members.
    8. Must possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and be able to effectively integrate front and back-end work processes and personnel toward a common goal.
    9. Demonstrated leadership ability in managing a progressive health care delivery team.
    10. Knowledge of managed care.
    11. Demonstrated knowledge and analytical capability in revenue and expenses.
    12. Demonstrated ability to direct service growth and development.
    13. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to build efficient working teams.

     

     

    Reporting Relationships

     

    1. Reports directly to the Director, Physician Practice

     

    Working Conditions

     

    1. Normal office environment with little or no discomfort due to heat, cold, dust and noise.
