    The Ride Performance Advanced Development Engineering Co-Op opportunity is located at our Engineering Center in Monroe, Michigan.

     

    The primary focus of the Ride Performance Advanced Development Engineering Co-Op is to provide hands-on learning and real world experience to engineering students enrolled in a cooperative education program at an accredited college or university.  By developing engineering capability in design, development, product knowledge, problem solving and technical support, engineering students participating in Tenneco’s Ride Performance Advanced Development Engineering Co-Op provides invaluable assistance to Tenneco’s engineering community while working in one of the following engineering disciplines during their work term:

     

    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: 

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participate in sample builds, teardowns, testing, and inspections.
    • Organize and write work orders for sample builds, materials analysis, and testing.
    • Assist in gathering data, analyzing, and drawing engineering conclusions.
    • Request and document engineering print and specification changes and releases.
    • Assist in gathering information on standardization, new technologies, and cost reduction ideas.
    • Responsible for test setup, execution, data collection, and reporting.
    • Organize and prioritize work requests to meet project timing requirements.
    • Develop and implement efficiency, cost, and quality improvement ideas.
    • Gain knowledge in engineering procedures, tools, and engineering process development.

     

    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING:

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create Test Specifications to test functional requirements of software and electronics.
    • Appropriate any equipment or tools needed to perform electronic and software testing.
    • Create wiring harnesses and set up equipment for electronic and software testing.
    • Perform Electronic and Software Tests based on Test Specifications.
    • Compile results of Electronic and Software Tests into a format easy to present and analyze.
    • Write Tests Reports for Electronic and Software Tests.
    • Diagnose failures in software or electronics in integrated electro-mechanical systems.
    • Assist with tasks involved with software or electronics in electro-mechanical systems.


    Required Skills
    • Must be able to work in a Team based environment.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Effective time management skills.
    • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
    • MATLAB (Basic Understanding)


    Required Experience

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Student currently enrolled in and in good standing with an accredited cooperative education engineering program.
    • Student currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in automotive, computer, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or systems engineering.
    • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
    • Ability to provide own transportation to/from the job site.
    • Ability to participate in a co-op work term (minimum of 10 weeks) during the Fall co-op period (September - December)
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Student with either a Junior or Senior status.
