    The Ride Performance Product Engineering Co-Op opportunity is located at our Engineering Center in Monroe, Michigan. 

     

    The primary focus of the Ride Performance Product Engineering Co-Op is to provide hands-on learning and real world experience to engineering students enrolled in a cooperative education program at an accredited college or university.  By developing engineering capability in design, development, product knowledge, problem solving, and technical support, engineering students participating in Tenneco’s Ride Performance Product Engineering Co-Op provide invaluable assistance to Tenneco’s engineering community while working in one of the following engineering departments during their work term:

     

    APPLICATION AND CORE ENGINEERING: 

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participate in sample builds, teardowns, testing, and inspections
    • Organize and write work orders for sample builds, materials analysis, and testing
    • Assist in gathering data, analyzing, and drawing engineering conclusions
    • Request and document engineering print and specification changes and releases
    • Assist in gathering information on standardization, new technologies, and cost reduction ideas

     

    TEST

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for test setup, execution, data collection, and reporting
    • Organize and prioritize work requests to meet project timing requirements
    • Develop and implement efficiency, cost, and quality improvement ideas
    • Gain knowledge in engineering procedures, tools, and engineering process development


    Required Skills
    • Must be able to work in a Team based environment.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Effective time management skills.
    • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.


    Required Experience

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Student currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering.
    • Student currently enrolled in and in good standing with an accredited cooperative education engineering program.
    • Ability to participate in a co-op work term (minimum of 10 weeks) during the Fall co-op period (September - December)
    • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • Ability to provide own transportation to/from the job site.
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
