    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Under general supervision, the Accountant II will perform a variety of professional accounting duties such as analyzing and reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, preparing various financial statements, reports and monitoring fixed assets. Collects and prepares financial data, analyzes fiscal accounting and related systems, fiscal presentations for budgets and reimbursement.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    THE ACCOUNTANT II:

    1. Gathers and collects data to prepare monthly financial statements reflecting accrued expenses and prepaid accounts.
    2. Prepares general ledger journal entries for assigned accounts, ensuring all activity is recorded, corrections are made and adjustments are calculated and posted.
    3. Reviews all invoices concerning capital equipment expenditures and prepares schedule for year-end reconciliation of fixed assets.
    4. Analyzes and records investment fund activities on a monthly basis, reconciling bank statements of cash and assets to the general ledger.
    5. Prepares analysis of accounts, which includes researching records and reports, identifying errors and submitting corrections with analysis and support to director involved.
    6. Prepares miscellaneous billing invoices including recording charges to the general ledger, assigning invoice numbers, and photocopying and sending out invoices.
    7. Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
    8. Prepares monthly closing package. This report involves detailed analysis of general ledger accounts.
    9. Assists auditors by preparing audit schedules during year-end audit.
    10. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    1. Reports directly to

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field. Certified Public Accountant certification desired.
    2. Minimum 2 years of experience with a comprehensive knowledge of general accounting principles and continues developing professional expertise.
    3. A relatively high level of analytical ability is required to gather, analyze and interpret financial information to prepare a variety of statements and reports.
    4. Interpersonal skills needed to explain and interpret ledgers and accounts to employees and managers.
    5. Able to use professional concepts and apply SRAlab practices and procedures to work on problems/issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations requires a review of a variety of factors.
    6. Able to exercise judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
    7. Ability to effectively use personal computer and working knowledge of spreadsheet application to perform data entry and analysis.

     

    Working Conditions

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
