  • Responsibilities

    THE SAFETY SENIOR MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING ALL ASPECTS OF SAFETY AT STONE MOUNTAIN PARK INCLUDING ENSURING THAT EVERY ELEMENT OF PARK BUSINESS IS DONE IN A MANNER THAT WILL KEEP EMPLOYEES AND GUESTS SAFE WHILE ON PARK AND PROTECTING THE COMPANY AND ITS ASSETS BY BEING FULLY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND CODE COMPLIANCE.  ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.  MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE DISCRETION TO CHANGE OR ADD TO THE DUTIES OF THIS POSITION. 

    • Effectively plan, organize and implement all safety policies and procedures
    • Investigate, prepare, and represent Stone Mountain Park regarding civil litigation involving guest injuries, damage or loss of guest property and workers compensation
    • Manage the workers compensation and guest incident programs for Stone Mountain Park
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Workers Compensation, ADA Regulations and Life Safety Code
    • Resolve guest complaints when necessary
    • Serve as a Park Duty Manager
    • Manage the Operations office
    • Manage the park surveillance program
    • Participate in weekly phone conferences with Safety leadership from other properties
    • Conduct injury and incident investigations and make corrective action recommendations
    • Distribute, coordinate and evaluate the Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
    • Review park contracts for vendors and contractors and approve submitted Certificates of Insurance
    • Coordinate the inspections of fire extinguishers, restaurant hood systems, sprinkler systems, security systems, food sanitation and all buildings on park
    • Follow up on any potential safety hazards called in by employees in all areas
    • Audit all park operations for compliance with safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Inspect Special Events prior to public opening
    • Administer workers compensation law while being sympathetic to employees injured on the job
    • Prepare and monitor annual budget
    • Participate in financial profit and loss reviews
    • Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring annual park action plans
    • All other duties as assigned

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    THESE ARE CARRIED OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE SAFETY POLICIES AND LAWS.  RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SAFETY SR. MANAGER INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: 

    • Managing and supervising department salaried and hourly staff
    • Interviewing and hiring staff
    • Training and coaching staff
    • Motivating and inspiring teams
    • Managing department expense spending
    • Appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees
    • Ensuring proper and on-time opening and closing of operations
    • Work through leadership staff to ensure department goals and standards are met
    • Ensuring leadership staff is trained, developed, and equipped to meet department operating standards
    • Ensuring staff adherence to Park policies and procedures, proper hospitality procedures, and safety regulations

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • At least two years’ experience in risk management for a company with 1,000 or more employees preferred
    • Working knowledge of OSHA, Worker’s Compensation and ADA, Life Safety Code, NFPA and ASTM required
    • NAARSO or AIMS participation preferred
    • At least 5 years’ experience in customer service, hospitality or theme park industry preferred
    • Previous supervisory experience required
    • Experience representing a company in Guest Liability and Worker’s Compensation litigation preferred
    • Above average negotiation skills preferred
    • Technical and mechanical knowledge of ride operations and maintenance preferred
    • Previous computer experience including Excel, Word, Power Point, Access and Outlook required

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

    • Must have and maintain a Driver’s License
    • Must maintain all licenses and registrations related to areas of responsibility
