    Job Description:

    Position Overview:

    As a LiDAR Analyst at Teren, you will play a pivotal role in the processing, analysis, and interpretation of airborne LiDAR data. Your expertise will help ensure the accuracy and reliability of our spatial products. Ensuring our data is of the highest caliber, you will be directly enabling our clients to make informed decisions. Due to the dynamic nature of this role, the qualified LiDAR Analyst candidate will have the skills to work alongside our Software Development and Dev-Ops groups optimizing our cloud computing environment to push what is possible when it comes to LiDAR production.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • LiDAR Data Processing: Draw on your years of experience to expertly process airborne LiDAR datasets.
    • Technical Collaboration: be conversant with industry-standard software, including LAStools, Leica HxMap, and Global Mapper, and technical toolsets like PDAL.
    • Quality Control: Demonstrate a strong conceptual understanding of sources of error in airborne LiDAR datasets. Visualize and address translation and orientation errors to enhance data accuracy.
    • Aerial Acquisition Knowledge: Apply your deep understanding of aerial acquisition processes, including GPS ground survey techniques, to ensure optimal data collection and alignment with project requirements.
    • Data Extraction: Leverage your expertise to extract valuable information from LiDAR data, including terrain features, vegetation, and structures. Contribute insights for diverse applications such as forestry management, urban planning, and environmental analysis.
    • Swath Alignment: Utilize your experience in LiDAR data extraction and/or swath alignment to seamlessly integrate data from multiple flight lines and datasets.
    • Elevation Model Creation: Employ your proficiency to create, manipulate, and refine elevation models, meeting project-specific standards and client expectations.
    • Automatic and Manual Classifications: Execute both automatic and manual classifications to categorize LiDAR points, enabling detailed feature identification and analysis.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years of experience working with airborne LiDAR data.
    • Proficiency in PDAL, LAStools, Esri suite, and Globalmapper.
    • Strong conceptual understanding of error sources in airborne LiDAR datasets and the ability to visualize translation and orientation errors.
    • In-depth knowledge of aerial acquisition processes and GPS ground survey techniques.
    • Experience in either LiDAR data extraction and/or swath alignment.
    • Proficiency in LiDAR data processing and elevation model creation/manipulation.
    • Competence in automatic and manual classifications.
    • Develop and utilize scripts or software tools to improve the efficiency and accuracy of LiDAR data processing and analysis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with open-source geospatial tools.
    • Proficiency in Linux systems.
    • Experience with Leica airborne sensor workflows.
    • Knowledge of BayesMap Strip alignment.
    • Production Management, light Project Management.
    • Programming/scripting languages such as Python or other relevant languages.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
