SUMMARY
The Terminal Manager will supervise the Terminal leadership members, as well as their subordinates,
while overseeing daily operations of the barge unloading and customer truck loading and shipping
process that is aligned with the organization’s overall strategy. Will identify workplace hazards through
workplace inspections, assess risks and conduct job safety analysis. Ensure team members are
appropriately trained. Deliver task specific training as required. Observe, mentor, coach and develop
team members ensuring job capabilities, competencies and program/policy application and use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events at a 24/7/365 operation.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure quick, efficient, and accurate measures are being followed to service all customers.
- Continually seek areas of improvement to better service customers.
- Improve Terminal availability and uptime through proactive measures and planned maintenance.
- Ensure that Terminal employees adhere to and are always following safety rules.
- Ensure proper communication is occurring between Terminal and Maintenance.
- Coordinate team members to ensure all areas are operated safely and efficiently.
- Lead weekly crew meetings covering safety, efficiencies, and manpower.
- Foster an environment where continuous process improvement initiatives are promoted.
- Implement process and safety standards and procedures.
- Assist with coordinating and managing crew schedules.
- Ensure team members are skilled in the expected tasks to be performed.
- Perform general maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Assist with training and development of team members.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist operators in solving work problems.
- Approve all overtime prior to commencing.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Always serve as an excellent Company ambassador and safety champion.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma and/or GED
- Bilingual preferred.
- 2+ years of manufacturing, mining, or aggregate environment preferred.
- 5+ years of supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
- Experience within Shipping/Receiving/Logistics/DOT, and Customer Relations is highly preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
