    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible under minimal supervision for designing configuring testing commissioning and supporting distributed telemetry networks related to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems. Ensure that the customer’s needs are satisfied by monitoring system requirements from startup to implementation. Assist in the training and monitoring of employees' work.  

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    •  Collect and review information from available sources to help determine a project’s functional requirements the end customer’s objectives budgetary and environmental constraints and the networking & telemetry scope
    •  Evaluate specified and potential solutions based on the customer’s objectives and Tesco’s engineering standards
    •  Review system control strategy. Design telemetry solution to satisfy requirements and maximize system reliability
    •  Perform assessments and evaluations for existing telemetry and network systems
    •  Coordinate and perform radio feasibility studies
    •  Prepare formal reports for radio studies and system assessments
    •  Configure “coreâ€? equipment (network security and radio devices) & maintain internal documentation per all implemented company standards
    •  Assist with equipment deployment on-site configuration and system troubleshooting as necessitated by department manager or senior staff
    •  Provide on-site customer training 
    •  Mentor and train other employees on related tasks 
    •  Participate in formal training to maintain and expand the company knowledgebase of current and emerging technologies 
    •  Perform all other duties as assigned.

     

    EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

    •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Information Technology or similar field of study
    •  At least 5 years of experience 
    •  Comprehensive understanding of networking principles for both TCP/IP and serial systems 
    •  Experience designing systems involving VLANs STP SNMP SPI RADIUS IPSec and SSL 
    •  Certification on industrial rated radio equipment 
    •  Experience with RF propagation modeling software 
    •  Strong knowledge of industrial telemetry protocols such as Modbus TCP Ethernet IP and DNP3.0

     

    SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE:

    Strong knowledge of current computer technology and networking fundamentals

    • Experience with VMware, vSphere, Cisco, IOS, Linux, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Wireshark.
    • Knowledge of HMI and PLC programming software packages from vendors such as Rockwell, Intellution, GE, Schneider, Siemens US Data etc. is a plus.
    • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
