    Tesoro Group is in the process of hiring an Automation/Controls Technician individual with the right blend of abilities, communication skills and experience to join our growing organization.

    The ideal candidate:

    Must be able to write, adjust, and program PLC's and Servo's

Will have the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. As we are a small workplace where individuals wear many hats; there will likely be opportunity to perform a wide variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

    Job Summary

    We are looking for a highly motivated, detail oriented and technically sound individual with

    experience building and starting up automated equipment to support the Automation Equipment

    team. When not performing the Controls Technician function, the individual will perform

    assembly of new equipment.

    Responsibilities include, yet are not limited to,

    • Building packaging machinery and subassemblies.
    • Following design prints as well as other written and verbal specifications.
    • Fabrication or modification of machine parts using machine tools.
    • Troubleshoot the functionality of the
    • equipment, install, support and train at customers’ facilities.

     

    Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

    • Strong electrical, mechanical and pneumatic aptitude.
    • Able to work in a team atmosphere and interface on a professional level with project teams.
    • Familiar with Allen Bradley hardware/software.
    • Electrical panel checkout and initial power up.
    • Update firmware and load system software.
    • Set IP addresses and test network communications.
    • Perform I/O checkout of equipment.
    • Perform mechanical adjustments and alignments.
    • Perform adjustments and test functionality of all controls related items, safety circuits,
    • sensors, light curtains, servos, etc...
    • Ensure equipment is fully functional before turning over to engineering.
    • Ability to build custom automated equipment from mechanical/electrical drawings and
    • solid models.
    • Work with prints and models to examine, measure and make modifications, as required.
    • Must have basic machining and fabrication knowledge (drilling, tapping, etc.).
    • Wire low and high voltage machine controls.
    • Assemble wireway and cleanly route low and high voltage cabling.
    • Able to travel up to 25% to install and support equipment at customer facilities
    • Capable of working on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.

    Desired skills and experience:

    • 4+ years of experience building custom equipment
    • Technical degree in Automation, Electrical Construction or Robotics
    • Knowledge in PC/PLC controlled machinery
    • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics, familiarity with CAD
    • Working knowledge of machining equipment for the fabrication of machine parts
    • Excellent mechanical, electrical and troubleshooting skills
    • Knowledge of VFDs and electrical power distribution systems
    • Degree in Automation Technology, Automated Machinery Systems or similar
    • vocational training – or equivalent experience
    • Experience with packaging equipment a definite plus
