Technical Source is seeking a highly skilled Test Technician on behalf of our automated equipment manufacturing client in Buffalo, NY. This client specializes in advanced machinery for pharmaceutical and biotech production, including aseptic processing and freeze-drying solutions.
We are looking for a candidate who can combine hands-on technical expertise with strong documentation and customer-facing FAT support, helping ensure equipment is fully tested, validated, and shipment-ready.
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Test Technician to support mechanical and electrical testing of complex pharmaceutical equipment. You will work directly with the Test Supervisor, mentor junior technicians, and help ensure equipment is tested, validated, and ready for shipment. The role also includes customer-facing responsibilities during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and occasional training sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical and electrical testing on systems and equipment
Support the Test Supervisor and guide junior technicians in troubleshooting procedures
Calibrate testing instruments and maintain accurate test data
Document and maintain ISO 9000-compliant records
Identify and correct faulty components and software malfunctions
Contribute to continuous improvement of equipment quality
Verify nameplates, safety labels, and documentation for shipment readiness
Assist Project Managers during customer visits and operational training
Required Skills & Experience
Associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or 5–10 years of hands-on technical experience
Experience with electrical systems, controls, and PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley Studio 5000 preferred)
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers and shop personnel
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
Hands-on experience in testing, calibration, and technical documentation
Preferred / “Nice-to-Have” Skills
Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards and documentation processes
Experience supporting customer-facing training or demonstrations
Knowledge of refrigeration systems
Experience with validation/testing procedures for complex industrial equipment
Interest in improving product quality and optimizing testing processes
