Job Description

We are currently looking for a part-time Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice to serve in our East Texas & Southwest Arkansas area. Texarkana Funeral Home is part of the Fuqua Family of Funeral Homes comprising of seven funeral homes stretching along I-30 from Gurdon, Arkansas to New Boston, Texas. We are a family owned operation which has been in business since 1939. We believe in putting families first and serving our local communities.

Duties

Assist Funeral Directors with making funeral arrangements with families.

Assist with preparation of bodies for visitations, viewings, and burial.

Assist with the following:

Preparing video memorials for services.

Preparing and printing memorial tributes.

Attending and working funeral services at funeral homes, gravesides, and other locations the family chooses to have their service.

Assisting at Crematory.

Transporting deceased to and from locations.

Assist with performing death calls.

Assist in answering phones.

Other duties as may become necessary.

Must be enrolled in second year of college mortuary program and on path to obtaining funeral director's license.

The pay will be dependent on which stage you are in for licensing but will range from $10 to $12 per hour until you acquire full licensing. This position is considered to be non-exempt in regards to FSLA and will be paid hourly. We are willing to be flexible with your work schedule to accommodate your class schedule, but will require assistance on night call and working some weekend shifts. For successful applicants, the company will cover expenses associated with obtaining and maintaining all licenses and continuing education associated with performing job functions. The applicant is expected to live and be active in the local community. Some travel is expected.
