    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

    • CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Special Education Teacher (EC-12), and/or,

    • Generalist (4-8) and/or,

    • Generalist (8-12); Mathematics, Science, Language Arts

    • EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Required)

    • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teacher Certificate from out of state appropriate for position, (As listed above)

    • Proficient in collecting data to establish strength, needs, and goals for specifically designed instruction, as well as monitoring progress.
    • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Physical capacity to meet needs of students with physical disabilities.
    • Ability to work effectively with both adults and children.

    FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Adhere to Texas Autism Academy’s philosophy of instruction.

    • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school’s curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required.

    • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter utilizing the Texas Essential of Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) starting in 5th grade and up. Adhere to Texas Autism Academy policies, and board policies.

    • Collect data in order to develop student’s standards-based IEPs

    • Collect data to measure student’s progress on IEPs

    • Collect data to determine student’s strengths and weaknesses

    • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff members in developing and implementing IEPs

    • Prepare IEP paperwork for assigned parent meetings

    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning

    • Develop lesson plans as instructed by supervisor

    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media

    • Implement, both by instruction and action, Texas Autism Academy’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives

    • Provide grades to students in accordance with Texas Autism Academy policies

    • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities

    • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations

    • Implement appropriate and effective behavior management utilizing the principles of ABA in the classroom and at assigned duties

    • Plan and supervise purposeful assignment s for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s)

    • Provide constructive feedback to teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) in cooperation with campus administration

    • Attend staff meetings

    • Comply with all Texas Autism Academy campus routines and procedures

    • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment

    • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and coworkers

    • Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents

    • Perform other special education teacher duties when applicable

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to work well under pressure.
    • Ability to lead a team of people for purposes of developing effective teaching strategies for students with autism.
    • Ability to teach several lesson plans at the same time.
    • Knowledge of special needs students.
    • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
    • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
    • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
    • Ability to analyze data
    • Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: Starting $46,000

    Texas Autism Academy keeps our student to teacher ratio low.  Our upper grades will have no more than 10 students in a class with BCBA, Curriculum, and RBT support, when needed.

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. -3:30p.m.
    • School year 2022-2023; August 8, 2022- June 1, 2023
