As part of TCEQ Administrative Services, you would help support the logistical and operational structure for TCEQ statewide -- the business foundation for the whole agency. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s Enterprise Support team, our Systems Analyst II will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

• Participate in the analysis of business processes for IT projects.
• Coordinate business analysis activities, eliciting requirements and provide input in requirements packages.
• Contribute to various related documents, including Business Cases, Software/System Development Plans, Software/System Requirements Specifications, Use Cases.
• Participate in the management of IT projects in the areas of initiation, planning, monitoring, and controlling, execution, and closing.
• Participate in the analysis of data, assists in the creation of data migration plans, verify/validate data migrations, and identify data issues before and after migrations.
• Analyze business area rules and/or data sources for the purpose of producing reporting solutions for agency stakeholders.
• Assist customers in planning testing activities, develop test plans, and coordinate testing activities.
• Assist in customer support for agency applications and general IT areas.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of full-time experience in systems administration, business process analysis and modeling, application development, or system and application design.

OR

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics or a related field.

OR

• Completion of 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics or a related field plus one year of the required experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience gathering requirements using techniques, such as interviewing, prototyping and Joint Applications Development (JAD).
• Experience with SQL with modern databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server).
• Experience with Enterprise Systems or Systems Administration.
• Experience with Toad for Oracle, Oracle’s SQL Developer, or similar tools to query databases.
