  • Responsibilities

    Line handling company seeking dispatcher.

    This position schedules and dispatches workers, work crews, equipment, and/or service vessels for conveyance of materials or freight or for service or emergency needs. The dispatcher uses radio, telephone, and computer to transmit assignments and track operations in progress.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Schedule and dispatch people and vessels to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs

    Relay orders, messages, and information to or from work crews, supervisors, and field personnel using telephones and two-way radios

    Confer with customers or supervisors to address questions, problems, or requests for service or equipment

    Advise appropriate parties regarding traffic problems such as weather, congestion, and hazards

    Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work performed, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch related information

    Other duties and special projects as assigned

    Education/Experience:

    High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required

    1-2 years of dispatch experience required

    Ability to obtain a TWIC card required

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 10 pounds.

    Requires repetitive motion, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering, sitting, bend, stoop and reach.

    Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading, as well as peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions as work is performed in an office.
