Qualifications
The Texas Workforce Commission is seeking a Programmer/Developer to join the PeopleSoft Systems team. This position is with Information Technology (IT) Applications Development and Maintenance (ADM) Department, located at 1411 Brazos Street, Austin, TX.
The Programmer IV-VI performs highly complex (senior-level) computer programming work. Work involves coordinating, overseeing, and implementing programming projects-major agency programs, analyzing proposed computer applications, and providing technical assistance. May supervise, train, lead, assign the work of others. Works under limited- minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
GENERAL DUTIES: -Perform highly complex to highly advanced (senior-level) computer programming work in the PeopleSoft Human Resource Management System (HRMS), including software development activities during all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC): design, code, test, implement, and maintain. -Assist with and/or develops and maintains TWC’s HRMS and its associated batch processes. This system, Comprehensive Human Resources and Payroll System (CHAPS), is a customized version of the web-based application PeopleSoft HRMS. -Work involves coordinating programming projects, analyzing proposed computer applications, and providing technical assistance. -May work outside normal office hours/days when needed to resolve production issues. May provide on-call activities on a rotational basis. -Work is performed under limited to minimal supervision, with considerable to extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. -Performs related work as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS 9.1 or above, PeopleTools 8.53 or above, Application Engine, Component Interface, Unix, and Structured Query Report Writer (SQR). -PeopleSoft upgrade experience from version 9.0 and above, and/or experience with Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System at the Comptroller of Public Accounts (CAPPS). -Minimum of two years development and maintenance experience using PeopleTools and PeopleCode. -Minimum of two years development and maintenance experience using Structured Query Report Writer (SQR) or Application Engine. -Experience with accessibility requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. -Experience with COBOL and state government Human Resource systems is a plus. -Strongly prefer experience with Comprehensive Human Resources and Payroll System (CHAPS).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Programmer IV: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, or a related field plus two years of full-time experience in data processing, computer programming, and/or systems analysis. -Programmer V: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, or a related field plus three years of full-time experience in data processing, computer programming, and/or systems analysis. -Programmer VI: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, or a related field plus five years of full-time experience in data processing, computer programming, and/or systems analysis. -All: Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work in computer science may be substituted for each year of the required experience. One additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
The salary range for this position is $6,500 - $8,500 per month, depending on qualifications.
