    The Courtyard by Marriott Largo is hiring for a Food and Beverage Supervisor!

    Job Description:

    Coordinate and Direct hotel kitchen, Bistro and Banquet staff, including training, scheduling, food preparation, budgeting, payroll and purchasing.

    Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service or accommodations.

    Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents in order to verify product quality and quantity and stocking in proper location.

    In charge of food preparation, portion sizes and garnishing and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.

    Monitor budgets and payroll records, and review financial transactions in order to ensure that expenditures are authorized and budgeted.

    Monitor compliance with health, ABC and fire regulations regarding food and beverage preparation and serving, and building maintenance in lodging and dining facilities.

    Plan menus, taking into account the hotel’s guest load, season, and popularity of various dishes. Estimate food consumption and purchase all foodstuffs and supplies accordingly, keeping a close eye on optimizing use of food surpluses and leftovers; price the various menu items after factoring in the food, labor and overhead costs involved and in light of the local economy.

    Supervise and coordinate work by all food and beverage staff; devise special dishes and new recipes that will appeal to hotel guests and keep the restaurant competitive.

    Hire and discharge employees and review their performance.

    Set up banquet rooms for meetings and events and assure that the room is set to client’s specifications.

    Coordinate orientation and other training for employees; maintain time and payroll records as required.

    Establish and enforce sanitation standards required by the Maryland Department of Health.

    Establish and enforce Serve Safe, TIPs and all Marriott required training and documentation.

    Assure that all Marriott Brand Standards are met by the department.

    Assure that the Food and Beverage Department is prepared and ready for audits from: Marriott International (Q.A.), Maryland ABC or the Maryland Department of Health

    Schedule food and beverage staff to assure adequate coverage for anticipated level of business.

    Be available to fill in for staff as needed in the event that a staff member calls out.

    Enforce all of Tharaldson SOPs and adhere to all human resource and corporate policies including accounting, payroll and safety policies.

    Work closely with other hotel staff and executives to ensure the smooth functioning of all hotel food service functions and the satisfaction of hotel guests.

    Empower employees to meet and exceed guest expectations.

    This job involves:

    Teaching, mentoring, and directing hotel staff.

    Close working relationship with all department heads.

    Demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm at all times.

    Being comfortable with the high level of visibility and the leadership role within the hotel and company.

    The nature of this management position requires extraordinary hours including nights and weekends and responding to emergency situations.

    Skills and Physical Demands of the position:

    Moderate reading and writing

    Proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills.

    Auditory and Visual Skills.

    Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

    Stand or walk for extended period of time including for an entire work shift.

    Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping.

    Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis.

    Occasionally carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum 1 year experience as hotel food/beverage manager
