    Job Description

    REGULATORY COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST - FOOD AND BEVERAGE

    FULL-TIME | IN-OFFICE ONLY | LOCATION: DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

    The Regulatory Compliance Specialist - Food and Beverage is a highly detail-oriented and organized individual with extensive experience in food manufacturing, packaging, quality assurance and safety. We are looking for a self-starting individual to lead the regulatory agenda at an exciting time of growth and expansion of the Brand.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensuring FDA compliance of product nutritional and ingredient information, including confirming nutrition values, allergen and ingredient lists, net weight statements and nutritional and advertising claims
    • Reviewing all packaging for compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines for domestic and international markets
    • Assisting with obtaining and/or renewing relevant national certifications
    • Assisting with the review of product claims made in marketing and sales collateral, websites, and other consumer communications for compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
    • Facilitate research in assigned markets specific to regulatory processes, product classification, product registration requirements, and importing food licenses required.
    • Collaborate with external parties (legal counsel, government authorities, health authorities) to ensure that products are legally compliant.
    • Project manage the end to end product certification process; Analyzing, evaluating, preparing and submitting documentation to specific governing bodies
    • Lead border management efforts by ensuring the products adhere to different international import regulations.
    • Provide assistance to R&D team for innovation projects on ingredients & formula development.
    • Familiar with Customer's supplier/vendor portal systems, ex: Costco, GORP
    • Perform Supplier Risk Analysis and review Food Safety documents for all current and potential suppliers
    • Ensure that the internal regulatory department database is kept up-to-date with all substantiation documents pertaining to labeling, product claims, regulatory research, and license agreements
    • Active participation with customer complaint investigation

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 5 year of experience in quality assurance, quality control, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, supply chain or related field
    • Minimum 1 year experience in International markets – bonus if in EU, Middle East, and APAC.
    • Food quality and food safety systems knowledge and experience and familiarity with food regulatory compliance required
    • Understanding/knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry and biological chemistry preferred
    • Deep understanding/knowledge of FDA, USDA, and Health Canada food regulation
    • Highly proficient with MS Office, Genesis and other compliance softwares
    • Adaptable and demonstrates initiative to find solutions for specific regulatory challenges, especially in international markets
    • Highly detail-oriented and organized
    • Strong communication skills
