  • Responsibilities

    The Adult Education & Learning Program Specialist (AEL Program Specialist) will assist the Intake Coordinator with orientations, enrollment, testing, data entry, and documentation for the Adult Education and Literacy Program. The AEL Specialist will verify and document eligibility for programs, and ensure the integrity of all program data and back up documentation.

    Hours will be Monday- Thursday 3PM-7PM, Fridays 9:00AM-4:30PM. Some weekday mornings or weekends may be required for orientations and trainings. Locations will be 6440 Hillcroft and 7037 Capitol.

    Main duties include:

    Conduct, program orientations as needed.

    Enroll and assess incoming students.

    Return calls and provide information on programs.

    Collect, maintain, and verify program eligibility documents.

    Maintain and verify the accuracy of program data, and enter into the TEAMS system on a daily basis.

    Ensure program files are complete and accurate.

    Track student hours and administer progress assessments as needed.

    Assist collecting required program data and ensure compliance with Alliance and funder’s requirements.

    Check program close-out for completeness and accuracy.

    Conduct program outreach as needed.

    Occasionally travel to other sites in Houston.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications and experience at this Level

    High school diploma or GED, some college preferred.

    Detail orientated.

    Experience with large databases.

    1 year experience in working in a non-profit setting.

    Strong inter-personal and organizational skills.

    Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

    Demonstrated ability to work with people from many cultures.

    Ability to work well under pressure.

    Strong Computer skills.

    Excellent communication skills, oral and written.

    Flexible schedule.
