The Alliance Community Engagement VISTA
Member Duties: The Community Engagement VISTA will support The Alliance’s Disaster Recovery Program to help refugees, immigrants and underserved residents have equity of access and equity throughout any of the four phases of disaster, including: 1) mitigation, 2) preparedness, 3) response, and 4) recovery. During the first half of the term, the Community Engagement VISTA will engage with Brazoria County, Fort Bend County, Galveston County and Harris County operations to facilitate coordination between service providers and the culturally and linguistically diverse communities served by The Alliance to recover from Hurricane Harvey. The second half of the term will be centered on continuity and sustainability of the Disaster Recovery Program through continued engagement and collaboration with governmental entities, national and regional disaster stakeholders. Care for the caregivers through various self-care projects will also be emphasized.

Originally founded by Association of Cambodian, Ethiopian, Laotian and Vietnamese refugee community organizations, The Alliance has expanded to serve individuals of all nationalities and backgrounds.
