    Job Description

    The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, a national nonprofit organization, is seeking energetic and passionate ADVOCACY INTERNS for the 2021 Summer School Semester. These are part-time, unpaid internships with flexible hours. Interns will report to the Operations Manager.

    The Advocacy Interns will research and compile contact information for federal and local district offices of the United States Senate. Interns will contact each office via phone and email to provide information about general eating disorder information and The Alliance’s services.

    The Advocacy Interns will also work on outreach, grant, and other related projects.

    We strive to make our internship all-encompassing. You will learn about Eating Disorders, Non-Profits, and how an organization runs as a whole.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Researching and compiling data
    • Making phone calls following a script and/or sending emails
    • Providing information on eating disorders and The Alliance to Senators’ offices, following non-partisan and other important guidelines non-profit organizations abide by
    • Submitting update reports in a timely fashion
    • Other administrative duties as assigned
    • Work collaboratively with the other Advocacy Intern(s)
    • Opportunities to attend virtual Alliance-hosted mental health information sessions and training
    • Requirement to join support groups, research presentations, and other events.

     

    INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

    • SPECIFICS: Unpaid remote internship with optional academic credit hours offered
    • TIME COMMITMENT: The internship requires a part-time commitment of 10, 15, or 20 hours per week.
    • INTERNSHIP DURATION: Spring Internships will start the week of May 10, 2021, and will run through the end of August.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Political Science, Social Justice, Public Health, or other similar majors, with an interest in eating disorders awareness and non-profit organizations
    •  Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
    •  Self-motivated and able to exhibit a professional demeanor in the office environment and over the phone
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Technical computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
    •  Comfortable working alone in a remote environment

     

     

    Additional Information

    The application deadline is March 19th. The first and second interviews will be scheduled from March 22nd through April 12th. Offer letters and onboarding will be sent the week of April 19th.
