    Job Description

    The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, a national nonprofit organization, is seeking energetic and passionate PSYCHOLOGY OUTREACH AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESEARCH INTERN for the 2021 Fall School Semester. These are part-time, unpaid internships with flexible scheduling and a minimum requirement of 10 hours weekly. Interns will report to the Operations Manager.

    Psychology Outreach and Administrative Research Interns are required to participate in Alliance events, weekly supervision with our Postdoctoral fellows, monthly supervision with our Education team, as well as complete an independent research project. The Intern will report to the Operations Manager.

    We strive to make our internship all-encompassing. You will learn about Eating Disorders, Non-Profits, therapeutic techniques, working in behavioral health, and how an organization runs as a whole.

    RESPONSIBILITIES GENERALLY INCLUDE:

    • Day-to-day administrative duties as assigned by staff
    • Promote The Alliance’s meetings and resources through social media and/or word of mouth
    • Community advocacy
    • Career-oriented workshops and skills building
    • Creation and research of therapy resources and therapeutic activities
    • Edit existing Alliance materials such as presentations and outreach scripts
    • Opportunities to attend Alliance-hosted mental health information sessions and training as well as those hosted by other organizations
    • Attend weekly supervision with The Alliance’s Postdoctoral Fellows
    • Attend monthly supervisions supervision with The Alliance’s Education department
    • Attend biweekly intern meetings
    • Observe a minimum of three Alliance-hosted support groups
    • Attend fellow interns’ lunch and learn and/or research presentations

    RESEARCH-ORIENTED RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • All interns are required to produce a research project in which they will present to The Alliance’s staff. Topics may be chosen according to the intern’s interests or may be assigned
    • All interns and their teams will produce lunch and learn research project that will be presented to staff

    INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

    • SPECIFICS: Unpaid remote internship with optional academic credit hours offered
    • TIME COMMITMENT: The internship requires a part-time commitment of 10, 15, or 20 hours per week.
    • INTERNSHIP DURATION: Fall Internships will start the week of Septemeber 13th, 2021, and will run through the end of December.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in psychology, mental health, social work, or public health with an interest in non-profit organizations. Open to all majors but those in the aforementioned concentrations will have preference.
    • Academic credit hours offered (optional)
    • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Technical computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and ability to use Google Hangouts/Zoom
    • Comfortable working alone on assignments and in collaboration with others
    • Previous experience working with the public a plus

    *NOTE REMOTE AND/OR ON-SITE POSITION AVAILABLE. ON-SITE POSITIONS REQUIRE THE INTERN(S) TO BE FULLY VACCINATED PRIOR TO THE START DATE. 

    Additional Information

    The application deadline is July 23rd. The first and second interviews will be scheduled from July 26th through August 13th. Offer letters and onboarding will be sent the week of August 30th.
