    Job Description

    The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness is seeking a PSYCHOLOGY OUTREACH AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESEARCH INTERN at its headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida. Positions are ongoing and interns are accepted for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The internship is unpaid and may be taken part-time (15 hours minimum) or full-time (30 hours minimum) with flexible hours between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some required nights and/or weekends. Psychology Outreach and Administrative Research Interns are required to participate in Alliance events and weekly supervision with our Postdoctoral fellows, as well as complete an independent project. The Intern will report to the Operations Manager.

     

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Day-to-day administrative duties as assigned by staff
    • Prepare packets and materials for meetings and events
    • Data entry
    • Making phone calls following a script
    • Community advocacy
    • Clinician and donor research
    • Opportunities to attend Alliance-hosted mental health information sessions and trainings
    • Attend weekly supervision with The Alliance’s Postdoctoral Fellows
    • Observe a minimum number of Alliance-hosted support groups
    • All interns are required to produce a research project in which they will present to The Alliance’s staff. Topics may be chosen according to the intern’s interests or may be assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in psychology, mental health, social work, or public health with an interest in non-profit organizations
    • Academic credit hours offered (optional)
    • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Technical computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
    • Comfortable working alone on assignments and in collaboration with others
    • Previous experience working with the public a plus

     

    Additional Information

    Applications are accepted until filled. Positions are generally filled by the end of July, November, and March for the respective school semesters of Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
