    Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Jobseekers should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Responsibilities: Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients Keep client files properly organized and up to date Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Consult with clients • Speak to and counsel clients • Serve and answer discovery • Create well-drafted pleadings and skillful arguments • Litigate petitions and motions • Draft inventory and appraisement of the marital estate • Calculate child support • Litigate temporary hearings and final trials involving custody and property issues • Negotiate with opposing counsel Qualifications: Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association) At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case • Must have worked on family law issues consistently at least 3 years • Must have handled temporary orders hearing and/or final trials Compensation: $70,000 - $140,000 yearly
