    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Financial Aid Student Assistant will provide administrative support to the Financial Services Department as well as to students, faculty and staff (as assigned) at the Art Institute of Houston. Student worker will report directly to the Financial Services Director. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist student walk-ins with basic financial aid assistance such as appointments with the department, website navigation, department referrals, and other general information.
    • Assist with filing student financial aid documents and forms, scanning and making copies, uploading files electronically, faxing, mail processing, and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
    • Assist with updating Campus Nexus and make phone calls to students to confirm financial aid appointments and/or obtain info on missing documents.
    • Assist the Financial Aid Director with coordinating pick up times and handing out kits to students.
    • Assist with special events such as New Student Orientation, Open House, and department workshops.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Be a full-time student at the Art Institute of Houston and qualify for the Federal Work Study Program as indicated on the 2020 - 2021 FAFSA form. 
    • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA
    • Must be in good academic standing 
    • Maintain course attendance at no less than 90% per quarter. 
    • Must clear all holds (including with Financial Aid) 
    • Customer service experience and a pleasant demeanor. 
    • Ability to understand the importance of timeliness and quality of work. 
    • Ability and willingness to take direction as well as initiative. 
    • Ability to think independently and resolve problems when appropriate. 
    • Uphold the Code of Conduct. 
    • Must be discrete – follow privacy guidelines for all financial aid records. 
    • Learn and remember procedures and policies, work independently, and be punctual, reliable, and honest.

     

    All students will be re-evaluated each quarter according to the attached Student Employment Eligibility Quarterly Checklist.
