    Job Description

    Our client is an established mid-sized Biotech company that provides tools and technologies to improve pre-analytical sample preparation, enable novel drug formulations, and manage compounds in the drug discovery process. 

     

    SUMMARY:  

     

    Replacement position.  The Senior Applications Scientist will be responsible for managing the organization's technical resources, including protocols, application notes, and other publications. The individual will also assist in application and technical support for prospective and existing customers. 

    This position is a member of the Application Team. It will also require working closely with the company's R&D department, Sales and Marketing.

    This position it is ideal for an individual with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) expertise, excellent writing skills and the drive to create a top-quality support processes and culture. Proteomics experience is a plus.

     

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:_ The employee may be required to perform all or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity._

     

    • 5+ years of experience in field applications and pre-/post-sales customer support; and in installation, training, validation, implementation, and application of next-generation DNA sequencing instruments and assays

    • Experienced in molecular biology/molecular genetics, and biochemistry laboratory techniques

    • Knowledgeable in sample prep to support next-generation DNA sequencing

    • Experienced with common DNA sequence analysis tools and workflows such as sequence alignment, genome visualization, comparative genomics, sequence/structural variation discovery, and epigenetics

    • Respond to customer applications questions via the telephone or email, and either resolves their issues personally or forward to the appropriate person.

    • Build, categorize, and maintain a library of frequently asked questions pertaining to all Company instruments and supported applications which will be available online.

    • Responsible for maintaining and updating all protocols and work with marketing to upload on the website.

    • Responsible for maintaining and updating a library of publications pertaining to the use of Company technology.

    • Provide technical support regarding applications for the instruments. Troubleshooting for basic mechanical operation and application software.

    • Assist in the assessment of new applications for Company’s AFA technology; provide technical expertise and insight into customer needs. Leverage these interactions to publish the results 

    • Work in the Company Applications lab both independently and with colleagues to generate applications and technical notes.

    • On occasion, represent Company at trade shows or seminar events, local and/or national, including demonstrations; ensure all demonstration equipment is fully functional and optimized.

    • Work with the global sales team and support the sales team with presentations, demonstrations, and communications. 

    • Manage Company Applications Services process

    • Maintain records of customer contact in CRM.

     

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

     

    • At least 5 years lab experience in relevant area. Ph.D. or MSc in molecular biology, biochemistry preferred. 
    • In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing and Automation is a plus.
    • Critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and timelines
    • Microsoft Office skills 
    • Must be detail oriented and highly motivated
    • Oral presentation skills

    Will consider post docs without corporate experience as long as expertise matches
