    We are looking for a Legal Assistant with a litigation background who feels comfortable with everything from client intake to assisting at trial. Superior effort and dedication will be rewarded. We will consider remote work for superior, proven candidates. Responsibilities: Undertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently Help with creating a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when necessary Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines • The Legal Assistant will perform extensive practice and case management on high-stakes medical injury and civil rights claims. Excellent organization and project management skills and "do whatever it takes" skills are critical. The ability to gather medical and other records, and information that helps maximize case value is critical. The ability to manage emails, and identify and input into the calendar all court and case deadlines is essential. You will coordinate with the attorneys on projects; get legal filings edited and finalized and handle the electronic filing with the courts. We need you to construct schedules and monitor all deadlines and cases so that all legal deadlines are met and we continue moving our cases from intake to resolution. • The Legal Assistant will perform routine office duties such as answering the phone and obtaining intake information, reviewing voice mails, calendaring appointments and deadlines, photocopying and scanning documents, and helping prepare documents for court filings. You will also maintain litigation files (both paper and through our case management software) and review and prepare material for storage or disposal once a case has closed. • The Legal Assistant will be called on to assist in trial preparation and attend our trials—handling travel, witnesses, ordering meals, and preparing and handling all exhibits. You will also attend trials acting as an assistant to the attorneys during the court proceedings. When the trial is over, you will be responsible for closing out the case documents. Qualifications: Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute Candidates must have worked with legal software, case management, and docketing programs Applicants must have excellent communication skills and organizational skills Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment Compensation: $20 - $22 hourly
