Underground Specialists. Operator/ Driver
The Directional Drilling Operator will be primarily responsible for operating and driving various equipment to and around job sites. Job also may include setup and completion of drilling in various sized underground conduits. Drilling Operator will work with the Job Site Supervisor, the Locator and the Laborers to complete job requirements from start to finish on outside projects including digging of bore pits, directional boring, conduit splicing, fiber installation, setting hand holes, concrete base installations, core drilling and pot holing for utility exposure with a vac truck, building penetrations, loading equipment, etc.
Responsibilities:
o Operate Horizontal Directional Drill and/or locator
o Drive manual vehicles that require CDL Licensure. (Wisconsin Issued)
o Assist in potholing utility exposure
o Running mini Excavators, skid steers
o Properly load and drive equipment to job site
o Communicate with others on jobsite
o Conduct post-job quality checks
o Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
o Follows specifications for the job and company policies
o Complies with safety procedures while driving and at job site
o Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work
Position Qualifications:
o 1+ years of demonstrated Horizontal Directional Drilling experience
o Strong knowledge of underground utilities
o Working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications)
o Understanding of client and company work specifications
o Ability to comply with the “Operator’s Manual” for your particular equipment
o Ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures
o Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded
o Maintain valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A, with airbrake endorsement)
o Ability to work in all types of weather
o Knowledge of underground pot holing preferred
o Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded
