George Mason’s Gunston Hall is seeking an enthusiastic, resourceful and innovative staff member to serve as a part-time Marketing Assistant. The Marketing Assistant reports to the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The Marketing Assistant supports and assists the Marketing office with various tasks including developing and researching content for the website, social media and public relations, assisting with designing ads – digital and print, responding to inquiries from journalists and alerting Director to potential issues percolating in the press, monitoring media alerts for mentions of Gunston Hall, take photographs for social media or website posting, assist with retrieving data from Google Ads, Analytics, Business and other social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
· Social Media – assist Director in researching and preparation of social media content for Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms
· Writing, editing and proofreading content – print or digital
· Retrieve data from various sources and enter into dashboards, spreadsheets or reports and/or create reports, spreadsheets and dashboards as needed
· Design graphics or advertisements when needed
· Photographing or videoing events when needed
· Respond to marketing material requests
· Monitor media alerts for mentions of Gunston Hall
Qualifications:
· Some years of work experience related to marketing and social media
· Strong written and verbal skills
· Demonstrated proficiency with social media – Facebook, Instagram, etc. and social media platforms such as HootSuite
· Graphic design skills including proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro or Rush
· Experience with Google Ads, Business and Analytics
· Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Teams or Power Bi
· Photography, video and editing skills with phone or digital camera
· Experience writing, editing and proofreading
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
