    Job Description

Company Description The Class (www.theclass.com) is a cathartic workout experience that guides you to strengthen the body, notice the mind, and restore balance.

It's a mat-based, musically-driven workout that uses simple repetitive movements to challenge the body and engage the mind. In any given class students can expect guided instruction and a well-curated playlist to lead them through exercises they are familiar with such as—squats, jumping jacks, and burpees.

The result is a mental clearing and emotional catharsis. Through continued practice students develop tools to tackle everyday life all while developing an incredibly strong, lean, resilient body.

Job Description Are you a passionate, thoughtful marketing professional? Do you like to cuddle with koala bears?

One of these things is very important to us.

We’re a wellness brand on the rise called The Class (https://theclass.com/) and we’re looking for someone to join our marketing team to help us: grow our business across DIGITAL (https://digitalstudio.theclass.com/), RETAIL (https://shop.theclass.com/), events (https://experiences.theclass.com/), and...eventually...when the world starts cooperating again...IN-STUDIO FITNESS (https://theclass.com/the-studio).

The Class experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the last year and we aim to feed that growth with smart, compelling marketing strategies across a range of channels and formats. We need your help to formulate, execute, and refine those strategies and deliver on our brand promise: to make people feel balanced.

Qualifications These are the things (we hope) you are made of:

    • Artisanal, organic, non-GMO, fair trade cinnamon cookie dough ice cream? If not though…that’s cool. No one’s perfect.

    • First and foremost you are a scary good project manager. Projects curl up into the fetal position when they see you coming because you OWN THEM with your magical combination of best practices, elbow grease, and communication prowess. People who have worked on projects you have managed tell exaggerated stories about you in bars late at night when someone asks, “what’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen?” Your innate talent for organizational fortitude and get-it-done resolve is...the stuff of legend.

    • You like and respect what comes from working on a diverse team of human beings, all of whom bring something different in their approach, personality, background, and experience. We embrace diversity in all things we do, so if that doesn’t feel like your jam, this is not the nest you seek.

    • You are not afraid of managing and uploading social content into the ethers for hundreds of thousands of followers to see.

    • You are a self-reliant and organized professional who can get things done without hand-holding. We’re a small company that is growing very fast. We value people who thrive in environments where autonomy and resourcefulness are the orders of the day.

    • You are a veritable Swiss army knife and you like to stare down lots of different challenges. You may start the day in a strategy meeting trying to help our customer acquisition team think about how a puzzling CPC metric, slip into a late-morning cone-of-silence session to analyze new data about how our retail holiday gift guide is performing, spend two hours in the middle of the day taking care of yourself by eating well and moving your body, return from lunch to proofread an email newsletter and deploy it to tens of thousands of people, and then end the day sitting with our design team to ensure their tasks are prioritized and tracked for the next day as they will count on you to keep them sane, productive, and focused. The job involves doing very, very big things and very, very little things. If you like that breadth and depth - this is your jam.

    • You have between 1 and 1MM years of experience.

    • You are not afraid of having conversations about (and interpreting) data, performance metrics, and money. But you also understand (and would like to work with people who believe) that “magic” and raw creative lightning in a bottle is an essential element of driving business forward.

    • You are based in NY.

    • You are human. We need and want people who are thoughtful, candid, and humble. It’s important in a “we’re not just saying it’s important because it sounds nice” way. Our mission is literally to help people feel better (in their bodies and their minds). It matters.

These are more “bonus round” skills…not required, but if you have ‘em we can make use of them:

    • Video production (producing, shooting and/or editing). We create a ton of content and much of it is video content. This is not required experience by any stretch but if you have it, we’d be eager to hear about it.

    • If you have worked on the front lines in any business where your role is primarily customer-facing, that’s a plus. Our business is intensely focused on our community and customer service (and just knowing and understanding what it means to “have a customer”) is core to what we do.

    Additional Information To Apply:

If you are interested, please apply with a resume, a link or links to some of your work, and a note written by a human being (ostensibly you) to another human being (me).

I’m the Director of Marketing at this place but definitely not a member of an “HR department” so I encourage you to tell me who you are. I value candor, a direct expression of your experience, and clear ambitions. Write towards those attributes instead of telling me what you would think I would typically “need to hear” in a job application. Be yourself. The truth is the easiest thing to remember and I don’t have tons of time to weed through cover-letter-speak to find out who you really are. Just tell me.

The Class provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you!
