    Columbia Safety is looking for an Inventory Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses excellent judgment, a willingness to learn, strong interpersonal skills, a quality work ethic, and a knack for problem-solving that leads to innovative solutions that drive continued growth and sustained profitability.

    As an Inventory Planner on our team, you will be trained to work with our in-house software systems and the Purchasing team to make purchasing decisions that align with our goals. This position uses the lenses of planning, strategy, process, and execution to deliver timely, quality work. You will represent these functions in collaboration across the entire business including our Business Development, Finance, Operations, and Customer Service teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Guard company profitability and margin while delivering a high level of performance
    • Ensure the business delivers on growth objectives and priorities by doing quality work
    • Forecast growth in items, regions, and industries based upon predictive analytics
    • Review, understand and use the results of market analysis
    • Remove barriers and obstacles that impact team performance
    • Support plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs
    • Build accountability for measuring progress and achieving results
    • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in the correction of errors
    • Recommend changes in process to improve efficiencies as they present themselves
    • Evaluate vendors based upon performance, values alignment and potential
    • Demonstrate adaptability and exhibit a spirit of continuous learning
    • Provide timely feedback to foster team development and performance improvement
    • Develop strategic relationships for inventory continuity and a team-based work environment
    • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values and standards of ethics and integrity

    This role will involve a high degree of analysis including, but not limited to:

    • Analyzing data and providing insights to support business decisions and strategies based on business needs
    • Gathering data from internal and external sources
    • Compiling data into a meaningful data set that can be imported into an inventory planning system
    • Understanding analytical and statistical models to propose solutions that have a high probability of a positive outcome for the business
    • Consolidating findings and sharing information with various departments
    • Developing and presenting recommendations based on analysis and trends
    • Providing data to internal teams to inform negotiations with both suppliers and customers

    Skills Knowledge and Expertise

    • Excited to build processes and reports to analyze data to forecast stock and profitability across business segments

    • Highly proficient in Excel and Google docs
    • Prior experience with ERP, demand planning, forecasting, or a similar software is beneficial (e.g. Sage, NetSuite, Epicor, etc)

    Candidate requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or related field or 2+ years’ experience in merchandising, buying, inventory planning, operations, or related area.
