    PURPOSE OF JOB: The Conservancy Educator (Level 2) delivers and assists in the development of educational programs for in and out-of-school time participants, the Conservancy’s STEM Learning Adventure Bus (LAB) mobile classroom, Nature Center visitors, community events, and festivals. This position works closely with Education interns and helps ensure that interns are practiced and comfortable with outreach programs and animal care protocols. The Educator showcases the natural, educational, and technological via hands-on, immersive environmental education programs designed to be delivered directly to communities throughout Southwest Florida. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Deliver educational outreach and on-campus programs • When required, drive the mobile classroom to outreach sites, community events, and an off-site storage facility • Assist with and implement curriculum development for educational student programs • Assist with cross-departmental maintenance and troubleshooting of the mobile classroom and related technology • Assist with mobile classroom tours and appearances at community events, festivals, and fairs • Support the training of education interns • Assist in the development and implementation of program assessment and evaluation • Willingness to handle ambassador animals for education programs • Participate in special organizational events outside of the department • Participate in professional associations and certifications related to mobile classrooms, environmental education, museums, nature centers, interpretation or live collections • Deliver excellent customer service, internally and externally • Other duties as assigned The above statements describe the general qualifications required to perform the job and the general nature and level of work performed-not a complete list of duties-additional duties may be assigned by management. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in ecology, science, education, or related field; at least one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Strong commitment to the conservation of biodiversity, environmental quality, and natural resources • Enthusiastic desire to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and interests • Knowledge of local ecosystems and the natural history of Southwest Florida • Experience developing and delivering informal place-based science education curriculum/programs • Knowledge, proficiency, and/or interest in creating and facilitating science-based art activities for diverse audiences • Some animal care experience (ex: marine aquaria, snakes, raptors) • Comfort with driving or being trained to drive a large (39-foot) non-CDL vehicle • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Ability to work effectively as a team member • Proficiency in Google Suites and Microsoft Office. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: • Current Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Life Saving, or ability to obtain. • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
