    General Responsibilities: The Direct Care Staff is responsible for the physical, emotional, behavioral and social supports of all the individuals living at an assigned location and the day to day functions of the location they are working in. The Direct Care Staff will perform all of their duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the location(s) they are working. Direct Care Staff must also follow all policies and procedures that apply to the performance and duties of their job. Physical and sensory requirements: (With or Without the Aid of mechanical Devices) Must be able to move frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this company. Must be able to relate to and work with a variety of disabilities and illnesses some of which may present a potential hazard to the worker. Must be able to push, pull, move and/or carry a minimum of eighty (80) pounds a minimum distance of ten (10) feet. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is an essential function of the position. * Ensure completion of all ADL's for individuals supported * Provide nutritious meals/snacks for individuals supported * Medication Administration Certified- pass out/re-order/document medications accurately * Provide physical, emotional, behavioral and social supports to individuals supported * Document care/activities provided and health status updates * Implement/Follow programs as indicated in Behavioral Support and Risk Management Plans * Do not play favorites (equal access, equal treatment) * Interact with co-workers, supervisors, case managers, guests and members of the community respectfully and professionally. * Know Basic First Aid * Perform housekeeping tasks generally required in the upkeep of a household and as instructed by supervisor. * Dress suitably for the position as to represent the individual supported and the organization in a positive manner. * Positive attitude - professionalism * Use time management skills effectively and in the best interests of the individual supported * Accurately and properly record time worked * Be flexible in work schedule, understand that schedules may change from week to week to meet the needs of the individuals being supported. * Cooperate with all other key personnel * Make recommendations to his/her supervisor that will improve any part of the organization * Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor and assume other duties and responsibilities outlined herein, but which are logically and properly those inherent to the function of the job, and/or defined or delineated on other procedures.
