    REGIONAL GROUP EXERCISE MANAGER

    Summary & Reports to:

    The Regional Group Exercise Manager is a tactical field-based position that directly manages the group exercise program including cycling thru the clubs in their region. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert and roll model in the fitness industry. This leadership position will execute to enhance the member experience and create a value in the Group X department in our clubs. This position reports directly to the National Director of Group Fitness and is partnered with the Regional Fitness Manager.

    Duties & Responsibilities/Essential functions:

    Team Development: Building a strong instructor team

    Actively recruit, source hire new candidates through the Applicant Tracking System

    Responsible for interviewing, auditioning, hiring, onboarding and scheduling new talent to staff the group exercise classes with best in class instructors and maintain and active talent pipeline for your market

    Provide coaching, mentorship & supervision and support to all Group Exercise Instructors to facilitate their success and skills development

    Ensure all instructor certifications are up to date and are CPR certified

    Implement quarterly Training and Development workshops for instructors in the region

    Evaluate classes and instructors with internal/external audits and report back to the General Manager, Fitness Manager and the National Director of Group Exercise

    Evaluate 3-5 instructors per week

    Field and Club Responsibilities

    Conduct studio evaluations weekly, ensuring that all studios are clean and organized and all Group Exercise equipment is properly maintained

    Ensure the Clubs and overall facility remains immaculate at all times, including everything from the bathrooms to the Group X, Cycling Rooms and Kiosks are exceeding company standards

    Partner with General Manager and General Manager to recommends and implements schedule changes as required

    Participates in the launch and on-going performance of new procedures, programs, training and certifications

    Ensure all Group X deliverables (copies of schedule, information sheet on class formats, instructors contact lists) are copied and readily available in club

    Responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of the Group Exercise and Indoor Cycling Program Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    Coordinates and supervises the day to day operations of Group Exercise programs and Group Fitness Schedules including Indoor Cycling

    Promotes an engaging and welcoming environment to all employees, members and visitors

    Teaches a minimum of 3 classes per week on the schedule to be compensated separately

    Execution of NCO when applicable in their region

    Performance, Communication & Administration

    Responsible for the training and development of new employee’s orientation, onboarding and training in the group exercise program.

    Work with instructors and payroll to complete and process new hire paperwork

    Responsible for the administration of the Group Exercise payroll budgets in region clubs

    Update all class schedules, instructors and payroll in Datatrak

    Responsible for all Group Exercise classes are closed out daily

    Provide Group Exercise Instructors with timely performance feedback and recognition

    Execute the substitution process to ensure that all classes run to company standards

    Communicate to each club and payroll new and terminated employees

    Work with all clubs to notify them of schedule changes on a monthly and quarterly basis

    Execute all quarterly schedules changes in Datatrak and to the clubs

    Maintain instructor communication list and slack channels

    Enforce and update the policies & procedures with the Group Exercise staff

    Attend monthly general manager meetings

    Handle customer service and equipment issues related to the group exercise department by proactively addressing any member concerns or issues

    Communicates with marketing and the admin team to ensure a timely update of group exercise schedules on all social sites (website, app, etc.)

    Key Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree preferred

    Must hold a current national group exercise certification & have taught for at least 5 years

    Must hold at least two of the following certifications

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Les Mills Certified

    Indoor cycling certification

    Must have at least 2 years management experience

    Superior understanding of customer service

    CPR, First Aid & AED certified

    Strong leadership & communication skills

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree preferred

    This position requires the ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class. Bending and moving is done frequently. Physical activity will include standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, sitting and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. The vision requirements are close, distant, depth, and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:

    This is a full-time salaried, non- exempt field position. This position requires early mornings (5:30/6:30am) and evening hours 5:30pm/6:30pm as days are spent in the clubs in your region. As a Regional Manger you are expected to be in the clubs two weekends per month.

    As a leader in the Group X department you are expected to teach classes however, all teaching should not occur during work hours and should not exceed 10 classes. This job operates in a health club environment. This position routinely deals with club employees, members and vendors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. This is a high paced environment.

    Travel:

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of are and overnight travel may be expected.

    Position type and expected hours of work:

    This is a full-time exempt position with general hours of work Monday through Friday, 9:00 – 5:00pm, (40 hours) however, this position frequently requires long hours and some night/weekend work.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position is responsible for the leadership, interviewing, hiring, scheduling and performance managing of group exercise instructors in their area, in conjunction with the General Manager and National Director of Group Exercise.
