    The Embassy is a Canadian, Oscar nominated production house, specializing in live-action production, post-production, and animation for feature films & commercials. 

    We are seeking a very talented artist to help lead projects in our Vancouver VFX studio. This is an exciting new opportunity for those wishing to work with the industry’s best directors, on some of the highest profile projects in the industry. You are a great all-rounder with the ability to lead teams but also complete smaller less complex projects on your own. The duties for this position are equally split between compositing and finishing (editorial), candidates should be proficient in both areas.

    Duties

    • Complete project compositing, finishing and 2d project management, involving compositing of VFX/CG elements, and the creation and integration of motion graphics.

    • Ingest, conforming, finishing and editorial work on commercial & film projects.

    • Creative and technical color work and color pipeline development

    • Technical line-up grades of all incoming shots.

    • Liasing with external editorial, finishing and color facilities

    • Pitching and quoting for new work.

    • Attending shoots and assisting supervisors with their duties

    • Managing, mentoring and training junior artists in your teams

    • Working within a compositing team on larger projects e.g. Features/TV

    Requirements

    • The skill set and confidence of a Senior Nuke, Flame or Finishing Artist at an established post facility.

    • A minimum of 5-6 years VFX industry experience is required. 1-2 years minimum leading projects, with an overall focus on commercial projects.

    • Expert experience in using Nuke and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, AE, Photoshop)

    • Experience in other editorial, DI & finishing tools an asset (Flame, Smoke, Resolve, Mistika, DS Baselight etc.)

    • Proficiency in film and video broadcast standards and video and graphics formats

    • Understanding of the technical aspects of pipeline development e.g. python, gizmo’s etc.

    • Good understanding of editorial and color files and formats e.g. EDL, XML AAF, CDL, BLG etc.

    • Excellent grasp of the whole filmmaking process from pre through to post.

    • A critical eye for detail and an interest in art, photography and above all else filmmaking.

    • Strong communication and team leadership skills.

    • Be a creative problem solver. There is always a solution.
