Reading Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Reading Specialist to support our students in improving their reading skills and comprehension. The Reading Specialist will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to identify reading challenges, develop intervention strategies, and monitor progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' reading levels and comprehension skills
- Develop individualized reading intervention plans for students who are struggling with reading
- Work closely with classroom teachers to provide support and resources for students with reading difficulties
- Provide direct instruction to students in reading skills, strategies, and comprehension
- Monitor and track student progress through data collection and analysis
- Collaborate with parents to provide support and strategies for improving reading skills at home
- Stay current on research-based reading instructional strategies and best practices
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in reading instruction
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Reading Specialist, or related field
- Valid teaching certification and Reading Specialist endorsement
- Previous experience working with students who have reading difficulties
- Strong knowledge of reading strategies, skill development, and assessment tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students
- Experience with data collection and analysis to monitor student progress
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
