  • Responsibilities

    The Medical Records Clerk performs substantive legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys in the office. Our Firm's Medical Records Manager optimizes client services so that the pre-litigation (treatment) phase of cases runs profitably, and caseloads and timeframes are managed appropriately. The Medical Records Manager can also ensure clients get the right guidance when an attorney is unavailable. Responsibilities: • Open the claim with the insurance company. • Follow up on claims opened by Intake with the insurance company. • Make initial contact with newly signed clients and check on their medical treatment. • Obtain Police Reports, and prepare Open Records Requests • Obtain photos, videos, and witness contact information. • Contact witnesses to obtain initial statements. • Send Ante Litem notices. • Obtain insurance coverage information. • Organize case files. • Maintain the file system. • Maintain the medical records log. • Obtain necessary medical records and bills. • Monitor client medical treatment with an eye to who will complete treatment in order to maintain a consistent flow of completed medical records and bills for demand-ready files. • Prepare medical records for demand drafting. • Monitor case statuses and have weekly contact with clients to ensure treatment progresses documents are obtained. • Answer client questions • Assist/Back-up Receptionist and Assistant as needed: answers phone calls, schedules initial consultations, schedules appointments. • Update clients • Order impairment ratings and surgical recommendations Qualifications: • College degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred • Pre-litigation experience • Empathy and compassion for clients • Self-motivating, intelligent, and disciplined • Keen organization, planning, and implementation skills • Proficiency with electronic documents and procedures • Proficiency with MS Office • Needles Neos, Assembly Legal, or Trialworks experience Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000 yearly
