    LIFEGUARDS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!

    Come work at a very prestigious swim club in Montgomery County!

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The dangers associated with water sports should not bar one from enjoying them. Lifeguards are

    employed to create safe environment where people can enjoy swimming without having to fear about

    falling into the water or hurting themselves.

    Lifeguards typically, keep an eye out for people indulging in recreational activities at a pool. In the

    event of a mishap, they are responsible for performing lifesaving activities such as resuscitation and

    first aid. Some lifeguards also provide swimming training to novices and children. On any particular

    work day, lifeguards take a headcount of people swimming and ensure that they are kept safe by

    calling out to them in case they venture too far or have been in the water for too long. The need to be

    vigilant at all times is high in this position.

    Lifeguards must also possess the ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain excellent

    service standards with members and their guests. They must have excellent listening skills and an

    eagerness to provide excellent service. This person may be required to work additional hours than

    scheduled, if necessary.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To arrive well-groomed and on-time and in the appropriate attire.
    • Logging name of Members and their Guests upon entrance to the pool.
    • Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming pool.
    • Ensure appropriate headcount of people involved in the pool on an hourly basis.
    • Call out warnings to people who may have ventured too far or are in imminent danger.
    • Provide safety information to people prior to them indulging in the water.
    • Supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols.
    • Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents.
    • Control and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols.
    • Perform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents.
    • Perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations.
    • Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene.
    • Maintain accurate records of pool use and chemical levels.
    • Teach swimming techniques and safety education to new swimmers.

    • Ensure that all pool equipment is stored safely and that any lost items are kept in a safe place.
    • Answering phones at the pool shack and relaying messages to appropriate person.
    • As well as other tasks that may not be listed above.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • To obtain employment as a lifeguard, one has to be an excellent swimmer along with possessing

    certification in lifesaving, particularly the Red Cross Advanced Lifesaving Certificate.

    • Specific training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is also one of the prerequisites for this

    position.

    • Flexible availability including days, evening, weekends and summer holidays.
    • Must be able to climb stairs and carrying items weighing 25 - 50 pounds.
    • Good communication is important, as is being able to follow directions efficiently and meeting the physical demands of the job.
    • Must be able to clearly communicate Member needs to other Staff Members.
    • A positive attitude while on the job is also essential.
