The Giving Keys is a Pay It Forward company changing lives with inspirational jewelry through their social impact business model. Headquartered in Los Angeles, The Giving Keys employs people transitioning out of homelessness to make and assemble their products. Every product is stamped with an inspirational word like DREAM, CREATE or INSPIRE, and the wearer is encouraged to embrace their word, then Pay It Forward by giving their product to a person who needs the message. Since their incorporation in 2012, The Giving Keys has provided over 150,000 hours of work for people transitioning out of homelessness.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR...

An enthusiastic intern who is highly creative, hardworking, and detail oriented to join our close-knit and collaborative team. The creative intern will have a strong portfolio showcasing their visual design and content creation skills. This is an unpaid summer internship beginning on May 1, 2019 - August 15, 2019.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL...

• Assist in the design of a variety of projects including emails, print marketing, packaging, social graphics, digital ads, and GIFs
• Create work that demonstrates a strong sense of typography, layout, and composition
• Prepare files for print and web production
• Ability to take direction and execute against deadlines across multiple projects
• Work independently as well as in a larger group
• Think creatively, have a desire to learn and share ideas

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Mostly, we want to know that you are ready to learn all about work in the Graphic Design/Marketing sector and social impact.

This means you have/are:

• A strong portfolio reflecting your experience in digital, brand, and print design
• Conceptual designer who is able to convey both emotion and business objectives through design
• Strong prioritization skills and adaptation to change
• A conscientious approach to your work
• Focus on details, quality, and consistency
• Fluency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Experience with Google Suite, Keynote/Pages
• Experience with email clients (Klaviyo) and eCommerce platforms (Shopify) is helpful but not necessary
• Interest in photoshoots (product/lifestyle) and processing the images (re-touching, cropping, saving for website/ads)

WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Must be receiving school credit for internship
• Must have a 3.0 GPA
• Interest in fashion, jewelry, and pop-culture
• Collaborative and professional work ethic
